What will I learn at Aveda Institute that is different from other beauty schools?
You'll learn from an exclusive Aveda curriculum taught by the industry's leading educators and receive extensive hands-on training to provide you with a comprehensive approach to beauty and wellness. More than just learning technique and trends, we'll help you develop the professional saavy to interact with clients and grow your clientele in addition to learning about salon/spa operations and product retailing. Of course! Our Aveda curriculum is designed for just that purpose. Will help you master the technical skills of your program by starting with the basics and then progressing you to more advanced techniques and training. Our educators are there every step of the way to encourage, help and guide you as you learn. We'll help you to develop the technical groundwork so that you have the know-how to pursue your creative passions.
The Aveda Institute also provides numerous opportunities for students interested in other creative outlets. From fashion shows to editorial shoots and even our study abroad programs in London, Tokyo or Berlin, we are here to help you discover what inspires you and help you to live your passion.

What can I expect day-to-day at Aveda Institute?
From the very beginning, you are immersed in an actual salon/spa environment with actual salon/spa guests. It's an exciting and exhilarating setting for learning. Each day you'll spend time with your instructors in a classroom-style setting learning about techniques and then have time for hands-on practical training to practice the techniques with your instructor there to guide and assist you. You'll be surrounded by other creative and talented people and learn to work in a team environment. Enjoy some downtime in the Student Lounge, study in the Resource Library and even take complimentary yoga and fitness classes.
Are there any student organizations I can get involved with?
Why yes! We offer four leadership team programs that provide great opportunities to get involved with the school and community: Artistic Team, Men's Team, Earth and Community Care Team, and our honors programs in Salon and Spa Life. Every 10 weeks we host auditions for students to compete and earn the privilege of representing our Institute. All of our leadership team members are elected first to help with community events, planning our Institute Hair & Makeup shows and to receive special classes or opportunities in celebration of their dedication, hard work and passion for Aveda.
How will Aveda Institute help me start my career?
Our mantra is Inspire Greatness and we want to see you go on to do great things in your career. Right from the start we'll have you meet with our Career Placement Coach and Marketing Director, Alicia Parks, to educate you about the Aveda network and career options. Our career services and support team is also available to offer career counseling, salon/spa tours, career and networking events and one-on-one career placement appointments.
When you graduate from an Aveda Institute, you join an extensive network more than 7,000 Aveda salons, spas, institutes and stores in over 20 countries worldwide and one of the fastest growing salon networks in the world. After I graduate, am I limited to working in Aveda salons and spas?
Not at all! Upon graduation, you will have gained the necessary education to obtain your Cosmetology/Esthiology License. Your Aveda Institute education is recognized throughout the industry as one of the best comprehensive beauty and wellness programs and will help you no matter where your career takes you.

Tell me straight, is there really a career in this for me?
Life is what you make of it, but with an Aveda education and cosmetology and esthiology license, you have the essentials for success. Did you know that the average full-time salon salary across the US is $50,000 per year? Not to mention the price of a hair cut in an Aveda salon is twice the industry standard- meaning you have a greater income potential than the national average! Dual-licensed Spa Technicians can expect to earn up to $60,000 within four years. That's not too shabby!
And if you decide to to take your education further through Aveda's Advanced Academy, your opportunities and income potential only increase from there.
Being a stylist or esthiologist is only the start of what you can do- there are many careers opportunities available including editorial styling, makeup artistry, instructing and even salon/spa ownership!
